Music Sheets for Your Favorite Songs

The idea of this project has been born out of necessity. I learn to play the piano in a unorthodox way: by playing songs that I like. My tastes a quite eclectic, one could say marginal, so finding music sheets is a real challenge. I worked with a couple talented teachers that helped me transcribe songs that I liked into music sheets. Although I pay for their work, I feel that it is not fair that I keep these sheets to myself. More-so, you might need to transcribe the song too, so we can help each other.

This is the place where people can fund the transcription of their favorite songs and share them with the community. You are free to use the sheets that have been funded by others and you can also start funding songs that you like.

We are starting at a low price point of $7 per song. We pay $5 to transcribers and $2 cover the Stripe fees and server costs. We will provide access to the song transcriptions for all members of the community until the end of time.

How It Works?

  1. Login with your Spotify account to become the member and access the sheets.
  2. Listen the song that you like or copy the Spotify URL and add track
  3. Pay for the music sheet transcription in full or add $1 to the pot.
  4. Once the funding of $7 for the sheet is completed our transcribers will start working on the song transcription for you.
  5. Once finished, you will get the email notification and the sheet will be available for download.
Pro tip: share this initiative with your friends. They can help out fund the sheets you like, say, if you play it to them.

Want to Transcribe Music Sheets?

We are also looking for talented transcribers. If you are interested to work with us shoot me the email at opentuning@citylance.biz and we will get back to you. We require manual transcription of the songs, please don't use AI transcribing tools, transcribing the song by the ear is a skill that you must posses.

How Do Transcriptions Look Like?

First, you can login and download the existing music sheets for free and see. Like Distant Memories by A.T.P. , for instance.

Second, we recognize that most songs will sound very boring if you just play the notes of one instrument while not playing the other parts. We try to provide the arrangement that is close to original, yet interesting to play and sound vibrant so you can play it solo for your friends, family or even on the stage if you are that courageous.
